25 Days of Mascara: Day 25

Day 25: Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I've made it (just barely)!  As I've said before, I don't usually buy higher end beauty products, but it's Christmas, so why not!  I received this in my Glossybox a few months ago and I fell in love with it!  It's Lights, Camera, Flashes by Tarte, of course (retail: $23)!

Just look at that volume and length!  This mascara has a very unique, dual-sided brush where the bristles on one side are stiffer than those on the other side.  The trick with this mascara is to first apply the mascara with the stiff bristles to add volume, then comb through with the soft side to separate and define.  I've only tried it using this method (which Tarte recommends), so I'm not too sure how well it would fare under a different technique.

Although this will not flake or smudge throughout the day, you do have to be careful with the application so it doesn't clump.  It just seems like you have to take extra time to comb through your lashes to avoid clumping.  Other than that, it's near perfection (the price is what keeps this from being absolutely perfect)!

Likes:
 - no flakes or smudges
 - separates and defines lashes
 - adds lots of volume

Dislikes:
 - application takes longer than other mascaras
 - price (but, you can get a one-time 20% off coupon code by providing your email on Tarte's site)
