25 Days of Mascara: Day 6

Welcome to 25 Days of Mascara!  This series, if you haven't guessed already, will feature one mascara per day until Christmas.  I love trying out new mascara, so what better way to spend the most wonderful time of the year (and my birthday month) reviewing the one product I can't do without?

Day 6: Almay One Coat Thickening Mascara

Welcome back y'all!  Today, we're looking at Almay's One Coat Thickening Mascara (retail: $8).  Now, Almay has some really great products (TLC and Smart Shade Smart Balance Foundations are my favorites), and then they have some duds.  This product falls somewhere in between, and I would give it a solid "meh."

This seems like it would give great volume based off the name, but really the volume is just so-so (such marketing trickery)!  I will say that this product layers veeery well like Julep's mascara from yesterday.  I have two coats on now and my lashes look far from clumpy.  It's not waxy and it doesn't make my lashes stiff even with two coats.  So, if you like to really layer your mascara but don't want your lashes to feel like they could break off at any moment, this is the 'scara for you!

Likes:
 - clump-free, flake-free, and smudge-free
 - can add layers for extra EXTRA volume without making your lashes brittle
 - formula goes on smoothly

Dislikes:
 - takes more than one coat to add volume

What are your favorite Almay products?
