25 Days of Mascara: Day 8

Welcome to 25 Days of Mascara!  This series, if you haven't guessed already, will feature one mascara per day until Christmas.  I love trying out new mascara, so what better way to spend the most wonderful time of the year (and my birthday month) reviewing the one product I can't do without?

Day 8: Maybelline's The Rocket

In all honesty, the last time I used The Rocket (retail: $7.49) was just a couple days after I purchased it several months ago.  I'm not sure why I wasn't into it at the time, because after applying it today, I've realized it's actually a pretty good mascara!  Maybe my mascara tastes have changed since then, but this guy deserves a permanent spot in my makeup collection.

I used two coats in the picture above (pardon my crazy eyes), which gives plenty of volume for me, but the formula is so smooth you can add a couple more layers and still avoid those nasty clumps.  I've been a Maybelline mascara fan since I first tried The Colossal (yellow tube) a few years ago, and The Rocket is definitely one of their best.

Although the wand is thicker than I would like, I feel that it still suits the formula well.  The bristles aren't too long, and the tapered end helps add volume when applied to your roots.  The shorter bristles make the mascara easy to apply without making a mess (I am an expert in getting mascara all over my eyelid)!
