Day 13: elf Volume Plumping Mascara
Welcome back! Today, we're dissecting elf's Volume Plumping mascara (retail: $3). (I don't mean literally. That would get pretty messy.) I've tried several different elf mascaras, but I've never been too impressed with any of them, this one included.
As you can see the brush is pretty traditional, and I've never been a fan of these. The bristles are too far apart, although this mascara does a really great job of separating and not clumping like these types of brushes are prone to do. I think it would be a lot better with a brush like Julep's or Jordana's where the bristles are closer together.
As far as the formula, it's pretty average. It's thin and doesn't flake, smudge, or clump even with two coats. It's definitely not as "volume plumping" as the name would suggest, but adds the slightest bit of volume without just clumping the lashes together. If you're looking for something to darken and add a tad bit of volume, this is your guy. If you're looking for REAL volume, I would stick with I Love Crazy Volume Extreme by Essence.
