Chic for Cheap Spotlight: New York & Company

In this new series entitled "Chic for Cheap Spotlight," I'll be featuring some of my favorite brands and how you can get your hands on their products while on a budget.  Please note that these spotlight posts are not sponsored in any way; I just want to share my favorite brands and products with you in hopes that you'll love them as much as I do!

There was a time not long ago when I wouldn't even have dreamed about shopping at New York & Company.  As a 20-something in college, I thought "those kinds of stores" were for real grown-ups - you know, people with REAL full-time jobs who have cars with power windows and people who think "eating out" is more than just grabbing a bite at Taco Bell.  It was those kinds of people who should be shopping there, not t-shirt-and-jeans-wearing, I-don't-have-a-clue-what-fashion-is me.  My first encounter with the brand was me walking into a NY&C store to apply for a job (I was hired, of course).  Thus began my love affair with New York & Company.

If you've ever walked into a NY&C, you know how wonderful their sales are.  There is literally always a buy one get one 50% off sale.  If not, it's probably at least 30% off the entire store.  This isn't even the best part; their coupons are incomparable to any other sad little department store coupon you might come across.  Yes, their coupons are that amazing!  Just the other day, I received this email:

That's right, 50% off all dresses AND you can use the coupon.  Let's say you wanted to buy both of the dresses in the picture above (the yellow is gorgeous, no?).  The original price for both is $49.95 each.  With the 50% off, you'd get both for the price of one, $49.95.  You throw in a nail polish for $5.95, making your total $55.90 - $25 coupon = $30.90 for two dresses and a nail polish worth $105.85.  That's a savings of nearly $75!  Enough said.

Tip:  As you can see, the easiest way to save more is to sign up for company emails.  I know some people hate having their inbox clogged up with junk marketing emails, but if you want to save some dough you've got to suck it up.  You can even route these kinds of emails into a folder separate from your main inbox, or you can set up a completely new email account just for your favorite stores.

Thanks for reading!
